Question #1:

Do you think colleges would care if I didn't make it on the Golf Team my senior year?

I'm going to be a Film Major and hopefully going to NYU. I know colleges love to see that you stick with something and go in depth. I've done a few clubs for a while at school. I'm an officer in one club. I started a Film Club my junior year. I also have done spring track all four years. I did Golf Team sophomore and junior years. I haven't even started golfing this year. I've been busy with starting my own public access cable show and trying to make short films. I do enjoy golfing (until I start sucking), but let's say I don't make the cut for Golf Team this year. Do you think it will hurt my chances of getting into a really good school like NYU? I forget to add that I will have taken 6 AP classes by the end of high school. My weighted GPA is 4.3176. I'm 15th in my class of 286. I only have four months until the deadline for college applications. By then, I have to make a really good short film. The percentage of the college application for NYU that is the creative portion (the short and a few other components) is 50% of the application. So basically what I do in the next 4 months is worth as much as what I've my four years in high school. What do I do?

Question #4:

Is this a good way to make the economy grow?

I have noticed a lot of middle eastern countries right now are going through aggressive construction projects. I happen to run into this one in saudi arabia called "king abdullah economic city"

I will post a quote about it

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Overview
With a total development area of 173 km² (66.8 sq mi), the city is located along the coast of the Red Sea, around 100 km north of Jeddah, the commercial hub of the kingdom, the city is also going to be approximately an hour away from the holy Islamic cities of Mecca and Medina by car. And as reportedly an hour away of all Middle Eastern capital cities by plane. The total cost of the city is $80 billion (around SR 300 billion), with the project being built by Emaar, The Economic City. A Tadawul-listed company created from Emaar Properties, a Dubai-based Public Joint Stock Company and one of the world’s largest real estate companies, and SAGIA (Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority) which is the main facilitator of the project.
The city, along with other five economic cities, is a part of an ambitious "10×10" program to place Saudi Arabia among the world’s top ten competitive investment destinations by the year 2010, planned by SAGIA. The first stage of the city is planned to be completed in 2010, while the whole city is going to be fully completed by 2020. The city will help diversify the oil-based economy of the kingdom by bringing direct foreign and domestic investments. The city also will help create up to one million jobs for the youthful population of the country, where 40% of the population are under 15.

City Components
Industrial Zone
The Industrial Zone is estimated to cover 63 million m². The 4,400 hectares of land will be dedicated to industrial and light manufacturing facilities - identified as key growth drivers for the Saudi economy - and can now host 2,700 industrial tenants. The jobs created estimated to be in industrial and light industries (330,000); research and development (150,000); business and office (200,000); services (115,000); hospitality (60,000) and education and community services (145,000). The "Plastics Valley" planned within the zone will use raw materials readily available in Saudi Arabia to produce high-end plastics used in automotive, biomedical, construction and food packaging industries.

Sea Port
The Sea Port is estimated to cover 13.8 million sq meters, it will be the largest in the region with a capacity of over 10 million*twenty-foot equivalent units*(TEU) of containers per year. The port will have facilities to handle cargo and dry bulk, and will be equipped to receive the world’s largest vessels. Another key component of the Port will be a custom-built Hajj Terminal with a capacity to handle up to 300,000 pilgrims on their way to Mecca and Medina, the holy Muslim cities.

Residential Areas
The residential area is planned to include 260,000 apartments and 56,000 villas. It will be divided into smaller residential, commercial, and recreational areas. Parks and green spaces will be used extensively throughout the residential area. The area is estimated to be home for around half a million residents, and another ten thousand tourists. Each district would feature its own public amenities, such as mosques, shops and recreational venues.

Sea Resort
The Resorts Area will be designed to feature services and amenities, hoping to draw both local and international tourists. Set to become a major destination on the map of Saudi Arabia and the map of the Middle East as a whole. It will include hotels, shopping centers and other recreational facilities. The number of hotel rooms and suites are proposed to be 25,000 hotel rooms in more than 120 hotels. Among the tourist draws at the resort is an 18-hole golf course, with training facilities and driving range. An equestrian club, yacht club and a range of water sports will also be constructed.

Educational Zone
The Educational Zone is a part of plan to bring the Saudis capabilities and aspirations in technology to globally competitive levels. The Educational Zone is planned to consist of multi-university campus flanked by two Research & Development parks. The multi-university campus is designed to accommodate 18,000 students, and a 7,500 faculty and staff members.

Central Business District
The Central Business District (CBD) is planned to offer 3.8 million m² of office space, hotels and mixed-use commercial space. The Financial Island, within the CBD, has now been doubled in area to cover 14 hectares of land, which will be the largest regional financial nerve center for the world’s leading banks, investment houses and insurance groups.

Question #8:

Club Car golf carts(gas), do they charge their battery?

Do they charge there own battery? I notice the starter is called a starter generator, is this like a starter/alternator combo, or does this mean it generates the momentum to start the golf cart? I'm asking because I'm bored and going to put a system in it(I know sounds stupid, but it is something to do)... Head unit, 2 components, amp and I haven't figured out which woofer yet, it is all up in the air till I find out if this golf cart charges it's own battery via alternator... Please don't comment on how stupid of an idea this is... Like i said it's something to do, that I have the resources for...

Question #9:

Two velocity questions?

A golf ball leaves the club with an initial velocity of 68.2 m/s at an angle of 22.4 degrees. Determine the horizontal and vertical velocity components (i.e., vix and viy).

A soccer ball is kicked horizontally off a 30.0-meter high hill and lands a distance of 50.0 meters from the edge of the hill. Determine the initial horizontal velocity of the soccer ball.

Question #10:

Golf Cart Technical Question?

I have a 1996 Club Car. I have removed the flywheel and there is an electical component behind it. I looks to be some kind of magnetic electrical connector. What's the official name of it? Also the reason we are replacing it is because the guy i bought it from said the connector was bad. The clutch wont kick it into gear like it should. Does for about a second and then stops. Is this the problem? Thanks for all of your help on this issue.

Question #11:

Are invented games reminiscent of life, or is life a game?

"Key components of games are goals, rules, challenge, and interaction." Source: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Game

The key part of games are the imposed limitations - for example in golf you must get the ball in the hole. The simplest way of doing this would be to pick the ball up, walk to the hole and place it in. However, for it to be a game certain 'unnecessary' limitations must be imposed: you must only use a special golf club and sand traps and water traps are placed in inconvenient places.

When you think about life it is almost reminiscent of a big game: the limitations are physical. You are stuck on a certain world that you can't simply jump off (gravity), you can figure out puzzles that allow you to understand the world better (science), things can be learned, experience gained, and you can save your progress by teaching it to the next generation.

At the end of life you die and cease to exist (at least in this form). So why exist in the first place? Why not just place the ball straight in the hole and skip the whole thing? Rather than that, it seems life is a game and is here for the sake of it.

Sorry to bore you with my pretentious bullshit, but I'd be interested in your opinions on the philosophy of games.

Work Experience

Paper Round: When I was 13, in June 2005, I applied for a Paper Round in my local newsagents. I delivered papers in the morning (before school) at various houses down different roads and streets. I worked from Monday to Sunday. I finally left the position in April 2008 so I could focus all energy/attention on my upcoming exams that May.

Work Experience: Towards the end of the Year 10 academic year (July 2007), I took part in a 2 week work placement at Transcar Projects located in Sidcup. I completed simple ICT tasks, connected electrical components and cables and many other jobs around the office. Working in the office environment gave me a better perspective on what I wanted to achieve, and working with adults of all different ages helped improve my communication skills.

Interests and Activities:

Wimbledon Tennis Championships Ball Boy: As of June/July 2007 I’m an official ball boy working at the Wimbledon Tennis Championships. Starting in October 2006 I went through extensive training to earn the privilege to be chosen as one of the few to make it through to the final tournament. Working with a team on court, and having to be extremely well behaved at all times, my team building, obedience and communication skills were greatly improved. During the 2006 tournament I was predominantly on centre court, and was one of the lucky few to ball boy for the men’s final between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. As of then I have been a ball boy at the 2007 Davis Cup and 2008 Wimbledon tournaments, and have been asked to continue my role in the future.

Kingston Royals Swimming Club: During my times as a swimmer at KRSC, I was chosen to represent the club and Kingston in a variety of different galas. This was a very successful period for me that required commitment and the ability to focus.

Interests: Like many others my age I enjoy spending time with my friends. I do this in a variety of ways such as team sports like football and relaxing at home. I also enjoy playing tennis and golf, and I’m altogether an active person. I also enjoy watching football as well as playing and I’m an avid supporter of Chelsea FC, where I have watched many games. Finally in my spare time I enjoy playing video games, and using my computer, I like to use the latest gadgets and have a good knowledge and interest in electronics.

Digg Del.icio.us Facebook Fark Google Newsvine Reddit Yahoo Print Reprints Text size: A West Palm Beach man was sentenced Monday to more than four years in prison and ordered to pay $16 million in unpaid taxes for his role in a nationwide tax scheme that employed illegal immigrants as janitors to clean for restaurant chains like Hard Rock Cafe, Dave & Busters and Yardhouse.

Scott Cunningham, 44, the former vice president of Rosenbaum-Cunningham International (RCI), was sentenced to four years and three months by U.S. District Court Judge Paul Maloney in Grand Rapids, Mich.

Along with Cunningham, the company's former president, Richard M. Rosenbaum, 61, of Longwood, was sentenced to 10 years and ordered to pay $16.9 million. A third defendant, Christina A. Flocken, 60, who once served as RCI's controller, was sentenced to 2 1/2 and ordered to pay $15.7 million.

Maloney also ordered the three to forfeit bank accounts, life insurance policies and cash totaling more than $3 million that prosecutors said was derived from their illegal activities. Cunningham is expected to forfeit a home in the gated community of Ibis Golf and Country Club.

In handing down the sentence, Maloney said the crimes involved a "massive tax scheme involving illegal aliens."

Assistant Secretary for Homeland Security Julie L. Meyers said, "For too long, unscrupulous employers like those who owned and operated RCI have been able to undercut their competition by building their work force with illegal labor."

Myers added that "targeting employers who profit from illegal hiring is a key component to stopping illegal immigration."

Prosecutors said that between 2001 and 2005, RCI was paid more than $54 million and evaded $15.7 million in federal taxes.

In February 2007, the three were charged in a 23-count indictment with conspiracy to defraud the United States, evading federal employment taxes and harboring illegal immigrantsfor profit. If convicted on all charges, they each faced 15 years in prison.

Just before the indictment was handed down, more than 200 undocumented workers from Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala and Haiti were rounded up in a raid on 63 RCI job sites across the country, according to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. They were detained pending deportation proceedings.

After a plea agreement was reached in November 2007, Cunningham and Flocken pleaded guilty to charges of conspiring to defraud the government and harboring illegal immigrants. Rosenbaum reached a similar agreement in October 2007.

The indictment said that illegal immigrants were "essential to the success of their scheme" because they were willing to be paid in cash, could be fired without legal recourse and were "highly unlikely to report the irregular nature of their employment."

Question #18:

How long until people start to recognize the difference between...?

...golf club "components" like Maltby, Golfworks, Golfsmith/Snake Eyes and knock-off look-alikes? The versatility components offer is a breath of fresh air compared to the mass produced one size fits a few major brands.

There are great products being made by small independent companies like Toski, Maltby, and FST shafts that people don't honestly look at because they get lotted in with products trying to rip someone off with an almost-club.

Question #19:

I want a set of new golf clubs, what are my options and which is the best??

I have an old set pf Ping irons that the heads are beat up on. The shafts and grips are ok tho.

Should I get just heads (from snake eyes or golfsmith, etc) and just take them to a clubmaker and have the heads replaced.

Should I order just components (head shaft and grips) and take them to a clubmaker and have them put them together. The components are cheap but I think itll cost a lot to have them assembled

Id like to get a good set that will last for awhile. The Pings I have now were my dads and lasted 15 years no problem, however I dont have the money for a new Ping top of the line set. Im leery to buy used, esp. over the internet. About how much would a clubmaker charge to replace
the head? What about to assemble head shaft and grip?

Any sites online that sell cheap name brand equipment. Ive tried TGW, golfsmith, rockbottom, golfcow, golfgalaxy, ebay etc. but maybe there are a few Im missing

Any thoughts or comments appreciated.
Or should I just get cheaper heads from a clone company but get great shafts?

Question #20:

EZGO Electric Golf Cart Parts?

I picked up a used EZGO TXT Electric golf cart. Not sure of the year, somewhere i'd say between 1995 and 2000. Anyway, it has everything (steering, wheels, body, frame, transaxle, etc) EXCEPT for electrical components. This mite b a long question to answer, but i would like a list of all the electric parts i would need to create a running cart, based on the old solenoid or resistor board and coil style of cart, as i believe this would be the easiest and cheapest style to create. I need everything from the electric motor to the 6 deep cycle batteries to the type of wiring used to the microswitches to the charger plug etc. I would also accept a components list for one of the newer computer controlled carts if that's all you know, but anything would help. If you have the time, I would appreciate it if you told me how to connect all the parts together, I looked at a wiring diagram but some parts still confuse me. Parts from any EZGO, Club Car or Yamaha electric cart accepted. Thanks y'all!
The idea of the cart is that it's supposed to be a fun project cart to fix up to working standard. I know some people who can get me used good quality parts very cheap, I just need to know the names of all the parts.
