My mother is incredibly hard to please.
Of the things my mother likes, she would always prefer that she buy it herself. If I paid too much, or bought something she *likes* but doesn't *love*, it's back in the store in a few days (and she 99.9% of the time only *likes* it).
Her whole life surrounds these things: family, cooking, golf/gym.
She collects Precious Moments and Wedgwood.
With cooking and golf/gym related things, it's a perfect example of the buy-it-herself situation. She never uses cookbooks (cooks from memory), is very particular about kitchen supplies/tools. And she definitely is only okay with choosing her own golf/gym equipment.
As for Precious Moments, I've already bought her a few this year, and there isn't any particular figuring she wants, meaning, whichever I buy she's going to return it anyway.
As for Wedgwood, she only collects light blue jasperware in original packaging, which is impossible to buy through Wedgwood since the company went bankrupt, leaving used goods through eBay and the like - not guaranteed to have boxes or to even be authentic.
As for family, I'm at a loss for ideas at all that don't involve photos (which she doesn't want anybody touching, manipulating, using in any way).
I'm not exaggerating at all here; in fact, I've probably down played it since her picky-ness is just so difficult to accurately describe. She's just the most frustrating person to shop for EVER!!!

12. one of the original movwers purchase in january of 2008 (all these transactions are from july 2009) broke down and is repaired by the mower dealer. The cost of the mower repair job is 875. lenny's will pay the mower dealer in 30 days.
13. purchase for cash 16,000 of supplies. these supplies will be consumed over the next 12 months.
14. collect 30,000 from the property management company for work performed in june.
15. pay the employees 5,250 for work performed during the 3rd week of july.
16. receiece a 40,000 advance payment from the university. the advance payment is for 5 months of work which will be performed from august 1, 2009 to december 31,2009
17.complete a special moving job for the golf corse. the total price for the mowing job is 5,100. the golf course pays 500 cash on this date and will pay the remainder on august 25 (date of journal entry july 25)
18. complete a mowing job for a new customer-- customer pays 225 cash for the job.
19. pay 75 dollars cash to the mower dealer for the supplies purchased on account on july 15 (journal entry date: july 27th)
20. pay the employees 6,100 for work performed during the 4th week of july.
21. invoice the property management company 31,250 for july mowing work. the property management company will pay the invoice on the 20th of next month (date of journal entry: july 31)
22. pay the cash divident which was declared on july 5.

LONDON (Reuters) - A jury convicted a man on Friday of aiding fighters in Pakistan and Afghanistan as an accomplice to a man who admitted plotting to kidnap and behead a Muslim soldier from the British army.

The beheading plot caused a security alert in Birmingham. Ringleader Parviz Khan, 37, admitted the plot at the beginning of the trial last month and three other men admitted other terrorism offences.
A jury on Friday found a fifth member of the group, Zahoor Iqbal, guilty of helping terrorists abroad.
He was not charged with a role in the beheading plot, but was accused of working with Khan to supply equipment to fighters on the Pakistan-Afghan border battling Western troops.
The men were "actively assisting terrorists who were trying to kill our soldiers, as well as those of our allies the United States and Canada", prosecutor Nigel Rumfitt said at the trial's opening.
He said the shipments included sophisticated electronic and other equipment like computer hard drives, range finders, night vision gear and surveillance detectors. Some of the material was sent out under the guise of earthquake relief to Pakistan.
The prosecution said Iqbal helped Khan source the equipment from retailers in central England.
On one trip they visited a golf shop to look at a gadget golfers use to tell them how far they are from the hole. "It can also be used to tell you how far the head of a British soldier is from the end of your rifle," Rumfitt said.
The jury cleared another defendant, Amjab Mahmood, of aiding terrorists but did not reach a verdict on a charge that he failed to report the beheading plot to police.
Khan has admitted that he plotted to have drug dealers lure a British Muslim soldier from a nightclub, bundle him into a car and behead him in a garage.
The jury retired to continue deliberating its verdict in the remaining charge against Mahmood.
